Hospital ClaimClerk

  • Reviews and analyzes daily claim edits requiring intervention  Oversees new edit development. 
  • Resolves Claim Edit issues.
  • Responsible for management of claim submission software. 
  • Monitors daily charge entry, identifies anomalies and resolves concerns timely. 
  • Reports inconsistencies and trends to management.
  • Reviews, logs and distributes daily reports as assigned.
  • Provides substantial support to patient accounting to ensure the efficient operation of the department.

Other responsibilities may include

  • maintain up-to-date billing system
  • generate and send out invoices
  • follow up on, collect and allocate payments
  • carry out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines
  • perform account reconciliations
  • monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
  • research and resolve payment discrepancies
  • generate age analysis
  • review AR aging to ensure compliance
  • maintain accounts receivable customer files and records
  • follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash etc
  • process credit card payments
  • prepare bank deposits
  • investigate and resolve customer queries
  • process adjustments
  • develop a recovery system and initiate collection efforts
  • communicate with customers via phone, email, mail or personally
  • assist with month-end closing
  • collect data and prepare monthly metrics

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable environment or related accounting area.
  • Excellent computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as well as hospital financial systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook daily.
  • Strong customer service skills.
